The children were sleeping asleep in their cribs while I was strapped with one of them on my back. Ha! It was beginning to seem logical, however it was far from done. The house would need lots of time and a love for shopping. My three sons and me looked for treasures hidden going to estate sales in order to help keep my spending under control. We used to go on a weekly basis to visit auctions and garage sales on the weekend, and buy a variety of furniture, both new and old constructed. I'd spend my workdays on the drive working on painting or sanding. Furniture looked this way... which is where I found my love to restore. The issue was not whether the house was already equipped. I rented a booth in the market at my local location and even sold some items there. It was possible to expand the area because I had many more pieces than I was able to use. There were open houses at my house that saw more than 1 000 visitors came through on the span of a weekend. They could purchase anything they wanted on the first floor. Growing Days was created in this home. My business was not only thriving but I was growing our family of four. I was balancing the demands of having starting a new venture as well as a mother too. Growing Days seemed like the best combination. My sweet Nora came into the world in 2013 and was our fourth baby. This was a fantastic direction for my company, however I was also in need of some time off. I took some time away from furniture that was vintage to enjoy the time I needed with my children. At the time, it was the ideal thing to do. It was only after several months that my phone began to call. I started receiving calls from people asking me for help in home improvement and design of interiors. The majority of them had attended my house during the open houses to purchase furniture. It wasn't long before I was managing a full-scale home renovation company. The first step was to take clients on one with a speed I was at ease with. It would have probably made me laugh if you had said that this was going to be the subject of the DIY Network tv series. It's true that I laugh when I think about the idea.
